Washington, D.C. Mini-Tour

Day 1 – Washington D.C.

Board your flight for the nation’s capital! You will be met at the airport by your TSA Tours Courier and escorted on a tour of Arlington Cemetery. This sacred, 500-acre site contains the graves of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert and wife Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. See Arlington House, the hilltop mansion of Southern hero Robert E. Lee.

Day 2 – Washington D.C.

On today’s full day tour with a licensed guide you will visit the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, where you will find a 19-foot bronze statue of the third President of the United States. Also visit the Lincoln Memorial, a tribute to President Abraham Lincoln and the nation he fought to preserve during the Civil War (1861-1865). The Vietnam Memorial Wall is one of the most visited sites in Washington, its black granite panels reflecting the surrounding background. The Wall is for people to remember those who died in the Vietnam War. There are close to 60,000 names on The Wall. When people come they often put a piece of paper up to The Wall, scribble on it, and the name will appear. Also tour the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a division of the Department of Treasury. See exhibits of the first paper money ever made. All U.S. currency notes are printed from plated hand made steel tools. At the gift shop, one of the most popular things to buy is a bag of shredded money.

Day 3 – Washington D.C.

Tour the government buildings of the capital today with a licensed guide, starting with the Supreme Court, home of the judicial branch of the government. On the ground floor visitors can view changing exhibits which depict the history of the Court. The U.S. Capitol Building houses the legislative branch of government, comprising the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Library of Congress includes many different items such as: Stradivari violins, the letters of George Washington, over 15 million prints and photographs, over 2 million recordings, over a million movies, the papers of everyone from Freud to Groucho Marx, the magic books of Houdini, Braille volumes, recorded books, sketches by Alexander Graham Bell and the contents of Abraham Lincoln’s pockets on the night he was shot. It also has the world’s largest collection of comic books. The White House, since 1800 the official residence of the president of the United States, is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. The White House is one of our nation’s historical treasures. You will view the rooms and furnishings, past and present. Walk along the ground floor corridor and look through the doors of the Vermeil room and Library, walk up the stairs to the State floor, and through the East, Green, Blue, Red, and State Dining rooms. The Visitor Center features many aspects of the White House, including its architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, and relations with the press and world leaders, as well as a thirty-minute video about this historic home.

Day 4 – Washington D.C.
