Day 1– Depart USA
Fly overnight to London!
Day 2 – London
Welcome to England, where your private bus and driver will escort you on a visit to the world’s largest inhabited castle, Windsor Castle, the weekend home of Her Majesty the Queen. See the Round Tower built by Henry II, the State Apartments and Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. Visit St. George’s Chapel to see the great wealth of treasures and also the tombs of King Henry VIII and Charles I.
Day 3 – London
Discover the city on a London Tour with your guide. See Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Fleet Street, the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Big Ben. Continue for a visit to formidable Westminster Abbey. See the Coronation Chair, the monument of the Unknown Warrior, and Poets’ Corner with its tributes to Chaucer, Milton, Longfellow and Thomas. As an option, attend a West End London performance this evening.
Day 4 – Paris
This morning take the “Chunnel” under the English Channel to Paris, the “City of Lights.”
Day 5 – Paris
Today begins with a Paris City Tour. See the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the Place de la Concorde, and the Tuileries. Visit Notre Dame Cathedral. In the evening take a Bateaux Mouches cruise on the romantic Seine.
Day 6 – Bordeaux
Start your day aboard the high-speed Train à Grande Vitesse (TGV) to Bordeaux, where you’ll see the highlights on a Bordeaux City Tour. Tour the Grand Théatre.
Day 7 – San Sebastian
Transfer through Biarritz, the principal resort on the Côte Basque, where the Empress Eugenie built a palace on the beach. Cross the Pyrenees to Spain, and arrive in San Sebastian, a city made for walking!
Day 8 – Madrid
Transfer via Burgos, where the gothic Cathedral holds the coffin of Spain’s epic hero, El Cid. Arrive in Spain’s vibrant capital and enjoy a delicious Tapas Dinner.
Day 9 – Madrid
Start the day with a Madrid City Tour. See the Plaza de España, the statue of Cervantes, the Royal Palace, and Plaza Mayor. Take a guided tour of the world-renowned Prado Museum, then travel to historical and picturesque Toledo. See masterpieces by El Greco in the Cathedral, the Old Synagogue, the Church of Santo Tomé, and visit a sword workshop. This evening, take a Walking Tour through Plaza Major.
Day 10 – Seville
See the windmills of Don Quixote’s La Mancha area, then tour Córdoba where you’ll see the two famous gates of La Calahorra and Puerta del Puente. Continue to the Alcázar of Catholic Kings and visit the Old Mosque (Mezquita.) Arrive in Seville, the center of bullfighting and Flamenco music.
Day 11– Seville
This morning’s Seville City Tour takes you to see the Torre del Oro and the Parque de María Luisa. Also visit the Giralda and the Cathedral where Christopher Columbus is buried. The afternoon is free to experience the capital of Andalusia.
Day 12 – Costa del Sol
Your journey continues via a city of beautiful Moorish buildings, luminous skies and a luxuriantly green setting. Tour Granada to see the Royal Chapel, visit the red-walled Alhambra and the Alcaiceria. Walk through the Generalife Gardens, then transfer to the Costa del Sol (Sunshine Coast.)
Day 13 – Costa del Sol
Today is free to enjoy the sun, sand and surf of the Costa del Sol’s world–famous beaches.
Day 14 – Depart
Return to the Malaga airport, and jet home with a lifetime’s fabulous memories of your excursion from the seat of the British Empire to the capitals of the Sun!
