Viva Mexico

Day 1 – Mexico City

Journey to México City. Your private bus and guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Relax, unpack and prepare for an exciting week, beginning here in the world’s largest metropolis.

Day 2 – Mexico City

Discover the heart of México City on a City Tour. You’ll see the Zócalo, the main plaza which was the former site of the Aztec capital; the National Palace, built by Hernan Cortes in 1523 and home of the President; and the Grand Courtyard with the fabulous frescoes painted by Diego Rivera. These murals depict scenes from Mexican history and cover over 4,850 square feet. Then on to Chapultepec Park to see Chapultepec Castle and the botanical gardens. Later, visit the Museum of Anthropology to view its treasures of Indian art.

Day 3 – Mexico City

Climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun and see the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, then stroll along the Avenue of the Dead to the Pyramid of the Moon at the awe-inspiring city of Teotihuacán. Also, visit the Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared before a young boy in 1531.

Day 4 – Mexico City

Practice your Spanish in the local markets today. Options: Visit the Xochimilco Floating Gardens and ride in the parade of colorful flower-decked boats, the air punctuated by mariachi music. Or choose to see a fiery, festive history lesson in live Mexican entertainment at the Ballet Folklorico.

Day 5 – Taxco

En route to Taxco, heart of México’s silver industry, enjoy an excursion to Cuernavaca, where you’ll see the Castle of Cortez. In Taxco visit Santa Prisca Cathedral, a masterpiece of Churrigueresque architecture. Then browse through the local silver shops of this colonial town.

Day 6 – Acapulco

Welcome to the original resort on México’s Pacific coast. Here in Acapulco, spend the day soaking up the sun, swimming, or shopping for souvenirs at the flea market.

Day 7 – Acapulco

Today is free for discovery. Option: Take a leisurely Fiesta Cruise around the Bay, then enjoy a brief overview of Acapulco before transferring to the Laqueverda nightclub to watch the world-famous La Quebrada Cliff Divers perform their perilous leaps (136 feet!) into the narrow, rocky gorge below. If you have chosen the Meal Plan, you’ll dine at the lively Hard Rock Café.

Day 8 – Depart

Say adios–Pack your souvenirs and return home with many incredible memories of your Viva México adventure!
