Day 1 – Nice
Depart for fabulous Nice, France.
Day 2 – Nice
Bienvenue! Your private bus and guide will escort you to your hotel. Nice is truly a cosmopolitan city; it has been influenced by the Romans, French, Sardinians, Italians, English, and Russians who have settled here on the beautiful Mediterranean. The climate is mild and subtropical. The town is ancient, founded no later than 350 BC. Nice has some glorious architecture, a superb promenade and access to some truly beautiful villages perched up in the valleys which cut through the mountains to the north.
Take an Evening Walking Tour with your guide to see the major points of interest including the Place Masséna, a broad and noble square with sculptured fountains that is the heart of the city. Framed by the château and Cours Saleya, the old town of Nice (vieille ville) is replete with little pastel house where fisherman once lived. Appetizing aromas of salade nicoise, crusty baguettes, the thick vegetable soup know as pistou, tian pastries and other specialties á la provençal waft through the side streets.
Day 3 – Nice
On a Nice City Tour see the city’s acclaimed museums, the Flower Market, and the Promenade des Anglais. Then travel to the hilltop village of Eze for a million-dollar view over the Côte d’Azur and a visit to a perfume factory. Later tour the elegant city state of Monaco to see the casino of Monte Carlo and the Palais du Prince, and visit the Musée Océanographique. This little independent principality is known for its beautiful stamps and the yacht-filled harbor. Keep your eyes open in this fairytale princedom and you might spot a prince!
Day 4 – Nice
A free day to explore the beauty and splendor of this ancient city. The Côte d’Azur has inspired, from time immemorial, the greatest painters, writers and musicians. You might choose to see one of Nice’s excellent museums, such as the Matisse Museum or the Chagall Museum, located in the heart of a Mediterranean garden. Stroll along the splendid palm-lined boulevards, or spend the day relaxing on one of the most famous beaches in the world.
Option: Journey to Cannes (pronounced ‘can’), famous for its prestigious annual film festival. Cannes is also where you will discover the beautiful architecture of the old city, treasure troves of art, some of Europe’s best cuisine and most famous beaches. On your city tour, see the new Palais des Festivals, the glamorous Rue d’Antibes, Le Suquet (old town), and the gleaming hotels along the prestigious Croissette.
