Day 1 – Puerto Vallarta

Board your flight for a modern resort that has somehow managed to maintain its unique Old Mexico charm. In many areas of Puerto Vallarta you will feel like you are taking a step back in time. Donkeys are still used for delivery in parts of this unique city and many of the crafts available here are made by local Indians who have been producing their wares using the same methods for hundreds of years. The Bay of Banderas majestically guards this resort in which the cobblestone streets and quaint homes of “Old Town”create a dramatic contrast with the modern architecture of the many hotels and homes. You will be met at the airport and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore.

Day 2 – Puerto Vallarta

On today’s City Tour you will see the Church of Guadalupe, Vallarta’s most famous landmark. Located near the Zocalo, this small cathedral features a steeple capped by an imposing crown, decorated with wrought iron angels holding hands. On the hill above the cathedral is Gringo Gulch, a neighborhood built by the expatriate and vacationing Americans who were among the first to recognize Puerto Vallarta’s potential as a tropical retreat. The malecón is the downtown’s hotspot. A seawall and sidewalk run along the bay, and restaurants, cafés, and shops are across the street. There are some interesting sculptures along the walkway, including the bronze sea horse that has become Puerto Vallarta’s trademark.

Day 3 – Puerto Vallarta

Take a cruise to Yelapa for a private beach party! This trip leaves daily (9:30 a.m.) from the Marina near the Vista Club Playa de Oro. The 1½ hour cruise down the coast is like a floating fiesta complete with live music and dancing. The village of Yelapa is on a picturesque cove surrounded by jungle-covered mountains. Lower anchor on the white sandy beaches and enjoy a BBQ buffet lunch, beach volleyball, festive music, dancing, games, snorkeling, and more!

Day 3-7– Puerto Vallarta

There are dozens of excellent shops stocked with folk art and crafts from all around Mexico in Puerto Vallarta. Bargaining is expected in the markets and by vendors on the beach. Because Puerto Vallarta is in a large bay, swimming is safe year round. The beaches south of the town are actually a series of small coves and mountains that came crashing to the sea. During your days in paradise, consider several optional activities available to your group. Choose to swim and snorkel with dolphins! Experience the joy of a dolphin kiss, marvel at the dolphin’s strength as you are towed through the water, and fall in love with their gentleness as you cradle one in your arms. Consider hoping into a jeep for an off-road jungle adventure. Away from city life, pass by small villages and see how rural Mexico lives among the flora and fauna. With your naturalist guide, keep an eye out for exotic birds, crocodiles, and tropical fish. Enjoy a BBQ lunch on a private beach with time for swimming and sun-bathing.

Day 8 – Puerto Vallarta

Transfer to the airport and board your flight home with wonderful memories of surf and seahorses, cobblestones and cathedrals, and all your sun-drenched adventures in scenic Puerto Vallarta.
