Day 1 – London
Depart for London.
Day 2 – London
Welcome to England! Your private bus and driver will take you on your London City Tour. See Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Fleet Street, the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s and Big Ben. Continue to Westminster where you’ll tour the formidable Westminster Abbey, site of numerous royal weddings and coronations. Highlights include the Coronation Chair and Screen, the monument of the Unknown Warrior and Poets’ Corner with its monuments to Chaucer, Milton, Dickens, Longfellow and other famous writers.
Day 3 – Paris
Take a guided tour of the magnificent British Museum where the history of civilization awaits you. Its vast collection includes Egyptian, Assyrian, Greek, Roman, British, Oriental and medieval antiquities. Among the major works on display is the Rosetta Stone. Discovered in Egypt in 1799, this tablet allowed linguists to finally decipher ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics after thousands of years of mystery. Also on display are the Elgin Marbles “stolen” from the Acropolis. Other highlights include the Sutton Hoo ship burial treasure, the Lewis Chessmen and the galleries of Egyptian funerary archaeology. In the late afternoon you will board the high-speed Eurostar train. Eurostar, also referred to as The Chunnel Train, is the most extraordinary train of the 21st century. It smoothly transports you in comfort from London to Paris in just about three hours, 20 minutes of which are in the tunnel. When you arrive in the City of Lights there will still be time to discover the magic.
Day 4 – Paris
Bon Jour! Bienvenue à Paris. On your Paris City Tour see the magnificent Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Elysées, the majestic Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero, Les Invalides, Palais du Luxembourg, the Pantheon and the historic Latin Quarter. Continue to the Ile de la Cité to see the Conciergerie and the Palais de Justice, and visit the Gothic masterpiece, Notre Dame. Then on to the Jardin des Tuileries and the stunning Place de la Concorde with its 3,300 year old Obélisque from Luxor. The rest of the day is free for exploration. Option: Enjoy the lights, sights and sounds of Paris on a Bateaux Mouches boat cruise on the Seine River. View the monuments of France from a unique perspective as you take in the brilliance of the lights of Paris after nightfall. Sail past the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero, the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, the Palais du Tokyo, the Alexandre III Bridge, the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris and the Petit-Pont, the smallest bridge in the city. Glide between the Ile de la Cité and the Ile St.-Louis, and be sure to make a wish as you pass under the Pont-Marie!
